Song of the Day: St. Stephen - Grateful Dead
After much soul searching, I have decided it is time for me to change the course my life. I already lead a fairly ascetic life and I desire very few comforts. In cold weather I go without pants or jacket. I am no stranger to sleeping rough, nor am I opposed to performing hard work day after day. I have done a lot of thinking recently, though. All this traveling has left me wanting something more, something intangible. After speaking with the religious authorities here, I think that it is time to make a change. I will give up my life of a gyrovague. It is time for me to become an orthodox monk and settle into a stationary monastic life. My days will be rigorously scheduled. Each one will be spent in prayer, labor, and slowly going insane. I will become a holy fool.
From this day forth I will be living inside of a dark cave on top of this rock. It will be a place for quiet contemplation. This should also alleviate my desire to go wandering again, as it is a hell of a drop. My only form of communication with the outside world will be notes brought by a trained squirrel named St. Stephen. (Oddly enough the squirrel isn't named after the 1st century martyr. Apparently the last monk here was a bit of a Deadhead.) I realize this may come as a shock to some of you, but I hope you can support me in my decision. I look forward to your notes of support as soon as the little squirrel brings them to me.-Dravis
